Lazy Friday evening

It’s a lazy Friday early evening for the husband and I! The kids are still napping, my husband is napping, both dogs are curled up at my feet!

Since it’s such a lazy evening, I’m working on a project I’ve been lusting after for quite awhile but just didn’t have the determination to start. This is the picture that gave me inspiration:

I worked up one whole square and then proceeded to do the rest in “assembly line style”.

I’m using colors by Stylecraft!
In Black, Spice and Grey.

I am so far absolutely in LOVE with it! I’m starting with just doing a pillow, approx 3 squares by 3 squares and once that’s finished, I’m tryin my hand at the biggest project I’ve done, a queen size throw. And it’s gonna be MINE! I told my husband, this one is mine, I’m keeping it, nobody gets to touch it and I’ll be buried with it when the time comes. He thought I was nuts!
I’ll make sure to post progress pictures. Hopefully I’ll be able to work on it a ton.

Yarn bomb

One day I really wanna get around to yarn bombing something. I’ve got this awesome chair that’s so beat up and broken, I got it off of craigslist for FREE! All it needs is a little TLC and a board under the bottom to make it more stable.

I’ve seen a few pictures floating around Pinterest lately, they never have any links to them which means it’s hard to tell what the patterns are or even give credit to the original designer.
Here’s what I’ve seen:

Super awesome right?!
I’m thinking maybe something in a solid white all around and then embellishing with multicolored flowers and a green vine. I’m hoping to get it finished by October for the craft bazaar I’m participating in!

You’ve got mail!

I recently got a big package in the mail! Funny story, my husband said I could spend $50 on yarn. I happily went to the stylecraft website and purchased what I thought equaled $50 US dollars, I was under the impression that they were using Euros and converted to US dollars as such. Turns out they use pounds and I actually spent $70! Whoops… I regret nothing! Luckily my husband thought it was just as funny as I did.
Back to the original post, I finally received my yarn package!

I caught a picture of my daughter doing a softness test! She’s starting to get very interested in yarn and has taken to picking out yarn for the items I make her.
I started up an awesome granny stripe blanket with some of the yarn I ordered. The pattern is from Attic 24 and you can get it here.
It’s going to be a bigger baby blanket by the time I get done with it!
Here’s a little size comparison for you 🙂 and meet my three year old Lily:

Here’s a couple up close pictures for ya so you can see the colors!

I actually wasn’t sure if I liked it at first.

New pattern

Lately I’ve been on an “anti-pattern buying” kick. There’s so many free patterns on Ravelry that I just can’t justify spending money on patterns like I use too. That being said… I just bought the CUTEST pattern ever!!!

Can we just talk about how freaking adorable this little doll is? I stumbled upon it while looking for a good pattern for a gift for my sister who just turned 17 yesterday! (Happy birthday Emily!) I bought it instantly. And at only about $4.50 US dollars, I was sold! I can’t wait to go get the yarn I need for it and get started, but till then, I gotta get ready for work!
Updates to come later 🙂

You can pick up the pattern here.

The creator also has some other super cute dolls so make sure you check them out!

Trying my hand at loom knitting

I recently decided to buy a round loom on a whim when I had a 40% off coupon and my husbands credit card (hehe). I tried my hand at making a hat and thought it was okay but wanted to try something else. Another trip to Hobby Lobby and another 40% off coupon and I now own some long looms! I got these ones right here. After trying them out, I fell in LOVE! Here’s what I’ve been working on:

It took a little experimenting but I finally figured it out. I’m planning on making a hood for a friend of mine.

My favorite yarn

I’m currently working on an awesome 12 point star blanket. I saw a picture posted on a crochet page I follow that used this yarn and fell in love! I raced to Hobby Lobby that same day, three kids in tow since my husband was on vacation visiting his family in Michigan. You can find the pattern for this awesome blanket here

As you can see it’s still a work in progress! I haven’t decided if I want to make it a baby blanket or just continue it and make myself a blanket since I love the yarn so much!
The yarn is Hobby Lobby’s “I love this yarn prints” in Sherbets Stripes (584). Here’s a picture of the skein/info:

And just because I love this yarn so much, here’s another up close picture of the blanket 🙂

Welcome to my first post!

Welcome! So this is my first post, i’ve never blogged before so you’ll have to bare with me while I learn new stuff, how to post and all things “bloggy”. My hope for this blog is to show the world the crafts I’m doing, share some awesome patterns, and maybe make a couple friends along the way!

A little bit about me: I’m a mother of three girls ages 3 and 1.5 year old twins. I’m a military wife currently stationed at Lackland AFB. I’m also a fur mommy to two small dogs! Twix, a long haired chihuahua i’ve had since she was a puppy and RJ who came into our life last year as a stray nobody claimed but our hearts. My three year old is a clefty who had her first surgery a couple days after her first birthday. We suspect she will have to have one more around the age of 5 to close the little fistula that was left. My twins were born Christmas Eve, people always joke about how it was the best present we could get! And of course! My husband and I have known each other for 9 years now, married for 1.5 years! We are both from Michigan, and we miss it more and more each day!

Well, that’s about all i have to say. Look out for my next couple posts, one about Kool-aid dying wool and the other about a crochet giraffe i’m working on!
